Exciting times….

8 October 2013

What a lot of excited family historians there have been these last few days….! Those who submitted their lecture proposals to the 14th Australasian Congress on Genealogy and Heraldry were contacted this weekend, the 5th Unlock The Past cruise presenters were announced yesterday and Who Do You Think You Are? Live 2014 speakers were also contacted to confirm their place on the Society of Genealogists’ Workshop Programme. There are so many opportunities for family and local historians to present to an audience at various locations from regional to national and international level, on land and at sea. It is also encouraging to see the diverse lecture titles which have been selected for these major events.

There is just one minor issue for me personally with diversity…. having tried to think outside the box with regard to lecture submissions, I now have a grand total of eight lectures, all different, to write for presentation in the month of February alone, from one-name and one-place studies – which let’s face it, I have a reputation for – to nonconformity, Why was my ancestor in the workhouse? and World War One: Women at War. Interesting times….. And that’s before the Ontario Genealogical Society Conference in May!

You know that proverb…. if you want something done, ask a busy person….
