K is for ….

…. Knocknobbler. Back in Victorian times, this wonderful title was given to a churchwarden who was in charge of turning unruly dogs out of church!

The term is still used today with a book of the same title written by a gentleman in the West Midlands who was a high powered television director and, when made redundant, became a knocknobbler. However, in the present day, this is simply a dog catcher rather than being specific to the church.
