Stunned to silence ….?

3 December 2014

Hm…. me? Stunned to silence? Not a common occurrence! But it almost happened today….

An early start at BNI Read Chapter in Swindon this morning, I was up and out of the house at 6am. Cold, dark and icy. Yuck. After a brief ‘brown trouser moment‘ coming out of Hilmarton on the icy, non-gritted road, the rest of the morning – meeting et al – was fairly uneventful until my return to the office.

A scheduled call with a potential new member of the team at 10am, the postman – I think lady today actually – arrived shortly after I put the ‘phone down. Along with The Book People catalogue which was still dangling from the letterbox, was an A5 envelope marked PROBATE sitting on the floor. To my amazement, inside were three wills, which I had only ordered on Thursday of last week! Oh my actual God! [N.B. Not sure there is a real one, but that’s not a discussion for today….]

I still cannot quite believe it! Now to write up all the case notes which go with the three wills! Is that before or after putting the kettle on? Before or after vacuuming the office carpet and rearranging the files? Before or after the shredding? I could go on….  But the answer came with a text from another new client – who I had spoken to yesterday about a family history gift for his wife – giving me her father’s contact details to find out more information about the tree. Well, I am sold! I’ll call him first before any of the above!

Tomorrow is Thursday – obvious I know – and I will be going on a course which I never thought I would need: Planning for Sales Growth in 2015. Growth has ‘just happened’ this year and it’s a great thing for FWL (of course!)…. Which reminds me how crazy work is at the moment and just how much we need more people on the team….. anybody else interested?

[Don’t forget to keep an eye out over the course of December for the hidden message in the titles of FWL blogs…. When you think you know, email us so as not to spoil it for others!]
