You can do ANYTHING

7 January 2015

Apologies for the later-than-usual blog today. It’s not because it’s X-rated and can only be viewed by adults. More, it’s due to an extremely hectic schedule today. At FWL, we are a ‘can-do’ team. Nothing is too much hassle and if we can help our business colleagues, we will. So this morning, I (that’s MD@FWL) was up with the larks and substituting at a local network meeting (BNI) for a superb local locksmith who had to attend a funeral. So that his business was still represented, I went along – good breakfast, great opportunity to network with other local business people and tell them about FWL at the same time. Win win! Apart from the fact, I had to be in Swindon at 6:45am at the latest!

SettingYourMind

That’s fine, until you factor into the day a half-day visit to the local History Centre (previously referred to as the County Record Office – heaven alone knows why they had to start re-inventing the wheel and creating whizzy 21st century titles for these places!) and three hours of teaching. Having said that, stick a meeting in the middle of the day and I would not have managed it.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that three people who I had hoped to meet at the meeting – members – were not there this morning. A shame for them too as I had business I wanted to pass them. I guess that they had something ‘more important’ to do, so I will pass the business elsewhere. I could have quite happily rolled over and gone back to sleep this morning or said I couldn’t substitute for Jeremy, The LockWizard. But to us at FWL, we pride ourselves on customer care and doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. It might mean that we work long hours – longer than we should – at times, to ensure our customers are happy but that’s important to us.

Our mindset is that nothing is impossible. No stone is left unturned in our research and when we set our mind to achieving something, we can do anything. So, to those people missing from the meeting this morning – change your mindset. You can do anything you set your mind to. Set your mind to regular attendance at your network meeting to build relationships with other local business people who will refer business to you once they know, like and trust you? Or set your mind to losing business by not attending? I know which one we would choose.
