“Life is like a box of chocolates”

19 June 2015

“….you never know what you are going to get”…. That’s what Forrest Gump’s Mama said. You know, I think she was right!

I feel like this week I have coined a new phrase for the dictionary – ‘Bonkers Busy‘. Leaving the house at 6am (not even my house either!), the MD@FWL working day began at 6:30am in Bath (as per usual for a Friday). As I studied my diary, I realised that I had not one, not two but six further meetings in the day with the last one starting at 8pm! At 7am, I was exhausted just thinking about it.

However, I began writing a list of MUST do tasks for the weekend, along with SHOULD and COULD – the MoSCoW method but without the W. (Quite frankly, I am far less bothered by the WON’T than the others!) The MUST list seems to consist of two columns of an A4 lined notepad though, so quite how I plan to get through all of that this weekend, is beyond me.

This week has been the week of investment. FWL has invested in a swanky new photocopier which will hopefully save us all a lot of time (me, more than anyone). Words cannot explain how exciting this is…. I know, it’s a photocopier but it takes less than one minute to scan 61 documents for us to send to the USA. Heaven alone knows how long that would have taken before…. We have also invested in two new team members, so we can offer even more skills, knowledge and attributes to our clients.

A box of chocolates has many facets – some good, some bad (chocolates you do and don’t like) as well as the obvious issues with sharing them, or not! Life is indeed very much aligned with this concept, as Forrest said. We – at Team FWL – are generally more of the Chocolate Toffee Finger (gold wrapper, stick) and Toffee Penny (gold wrapper, circular) type. Which are you and why!?
