As those who know me well will testify, I am rarely rendered speechless but last Tuesday was one of the rare occasions. Having seen the bronze and silver medal winners announced on Monday in the Rockstar Genealogist awards, I was being a little hopeful when dreaming of achieving a Top Ten position in the UK and Ireland poll. Receiving the honour of the Superstar Genealogist (Gold Medallist) in the UK and Ireland was astonishing and I would like to sincerely thank all my fellow family historians who voted for me.
The accolade has certainly spurred me on this last week. Seven days ago, this website was a ‘place saver’ and really did not set the world alight. With the able assistance of a fantastic graphic designer – who was able to take my random thoughts and make some sense of them – and an awesome web designer – who was able to persuade me that text really did need to change – here we are with a brand new whizz bang website. What a difference a week makes!
Now working full time as a professional family and local historian and Heir Hunter, I have been delighted by the response to my newfound freedom and flexibility with copious requests for lectures, webinars, articles, books and new projects in the field. There might even be room for more in my timetable, so do get in touch. They say ‘if you want something done, ask a busy person!’
This blog will be regularly updated with news which will hopefully be of interest to clients, friends, colleagues and country folk.
