Damned if you do and damned if you don’t

2 September 2014

Do you ever get that feeling that no matter what you do regarding a particular issue, it’ll be wrong? The First Lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt – known as Eleanor – clearly had many instances of this. She supported the New Deal policies of her husband, distant cousin Franklin Delano Roosevelt and became an advocate for civil rights. After her husband’s death, Eleanor continued to be an international speaker, author, activist and politician and she was so right when she said:

It transpires that many a wise word left the lips of Mrs Roosevelt including ‘Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people‘ …. Although I have no desire to be The First Lady or have any involvement in politics either now or in the future, it would seem that there are parallels between our beliefs.
