Xtremely late blog tonight as it has been an xtraordinarily odd and busy day. Yesterday, a fellow genie said ‘I swear you have more than 24 hours in your day, Kirsty!’…. believe me, I wish! The jobs list never seems to get any shorter – which, in a business capacity, is a good thing – but this evening I have decided (thanks to a brief conversation with the lovely lady working in Tesco Express) that I will be participating in Stoptober. No, I am not a secret smoker who has just stepped out of the closet but there are a number of things that I am going to be stopping for October and putting them in a public place means I will stick to them!
2014 has not been the easiest of years at time and the last month has presented a fair few significant challenges. So, the first two ‘stops’ are directly linked to my ‘crutches’ – stop drinking alcohol and stop eating sweets (which sadly includes chocolate)….
The third is linked to generally getting ‘back on the wagon’ (as per 1 and 2 above) and is that I will stop making excuses for not using the gym in my lounge. Yes, it is in my house so really, what can possibly be the excuse? Well, time usually…. which brings me onto Stop 4. I am going to stop doing things that take time and bring me no joy in life. What’s the point of carrying on doing something that brings you nothing but grief? Especially if it takes up an enormous amount of time and effort…. There are plenty of things I do which are voluntary – I do not get paid and that’s what I ‘signed up for’. But, no longer will I be doing those things if they are too onerous and not enjoyable in any way.
Watch out world. Stoptober is almost upon us. There will be casualties.
