Ever get that sinking feeling on a Sunday night….? Then you need to change your job! If you hate the Monday to Friday game…. get out! There is life outside the four walls you work in, wherever they may be and whatever you may be doing….
What time did you wake up this morning? 6am? 7am? I am guessing that would fit the bill for at least 60-70% of the population of the Western World, no matter what your job is (and some of you might have been woken by a small human or member of the animal kingdom who lives with you!).
Did you wake up, full of the joys of a Monday morning in December? Where you just itching to get out of bed and start your working day? No….? Then find something you love doing and make that your job. Works here at FWL….!
Last week someone said to me, ‘I just need to find the time to do some of my own [family history] research’. We don’t get much time for that here but we do get to do lots of other people’s family histories and there are so many stories we could tell. For example, the two half-sisters who are now in contact having never met each other before, the fantastic documents we have located to prove a family story, the estate claims we have paid out to unsuspecting beneficiaries …. the list is endless and so rewarding. Do we stop at 5pm on Friday? No. Do we dread Monday morning? No.
We work hours to suit us! We meet – and more often than not, exceed – our customers’ expectations, setting realistic goals and time frames and always making sure we communicate those with our clients. Tracing work isn’t always easy. We can’t always find people ‘overnight’ (obviously!). However, we have a 100% crack rate and we are very proud of that. Did we all start out our working lives doing this? No. But we love every minute of it. If you don’t look forward to Monday morning, maybe one of your New Year’s Resolutions should be to change that in 2015….?
[Don’t forget to keep an eye out over the course of December for the hidden message in the titles of FWL blogs…. When you think you know, email us so as not to spoil it for others!]
