…. or sometimes the brave. People who bravely go after what they want are more successful than people who try to live safely. Sometimes safe is good but when you put your best foot forward and set yourself apart from the crowd, fortune and success frequently follow. We’ve decided to do exactly that here at FWL this year. The team has expanded yet further in March bringing more expertise and knowledge to the table. It’s a really exciting time for us with lots of new projects taking us to many exciting places.
But how do businesses cope with expansion? One of the most critical components is the careful selection of your team members. Team members need to know their stuff, know the process and be able to make decisions. You might have certain people who wear two hats but you should have a specialist owner of each hat.
The team must have diverse strengths and abilities. It is said that a team is greater than the sum of its individual parts and so, you must make sure you have a “big picture” person as well as one who is detail-oriented, fast paced, slow paced, etc. Strive for the right combination of people to complement each other and build on each other’s strengths.
Working in a team requires new skills and behaviours. Once the team has formed, it is always easier if you have seasoned veterans with positive team experiences and skills. They will believe in the team’s potential and so will raise the entire team’s standards and expectations.
Now is the time to boldly go where no man has gone before folks – watch out! FWL is a force to be reckoned with!
