Is it just me, or is it all too much already? It’s on Facebook, Twitter, the television, the radio…. GIVE ME A BREAK! If I want to find out what Nick Clegg is blathering on about, or what Ed Miliband and David Cameron are rowing about today, I’ll look it up. What makes you think I want to hear about it – all day, every day?
Much mileage today and a few patient waits (or not so patient in some cases) so I’ve heard the Radio One news seemingly on repeat and my social media feeds are just filled with this stuff. Whilst I appreciate we need to be informed in order to knowledgeably use our vote, does this mean that the rest of the world (including soap operas, documentaries and other more interesting programmes, news and such like) must be paused until this crazy month is over?
What is a ‘non-dom‘ for goodness sake!? Was that term even used before this week? (I sincerely doubt it!) Why is the fact that the SNP and Labour might create a coalition so newsworthy? (after all, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems have been doing so for the last couple of years, eh?) Do you actually manage to watch these politicians arguing every time they meet on our screens and restrain yourself from letting them know your opinions, from your own living room, like they can hear you?
Tom Bradby asked on ITV’s The Agenda this evening, “Would you rather have politicians knocking on your door, to talk to you face-to-face, or beaming into your living room. Or will you just vote for the one who leaves you alone?” Personally, I’ll be doing the latter.
