We all know that it’s not just about winning, it’s about taking part. Yeah – like hell it is! We all want to win. No matter what the competition. The first week I had my Fitbit, I didn’t really ‘get it’. I took part in a Workweek Hustle with some fellow genies and came third out of five. Not half bad. Bronze medal was a good start.
Since then, I have been challenged by/challenged others to Goal Days and Workweek Hustles and it has to be said, I don’t do losing. During my childhood, I do not recall being particularly competitive. I was in a form group of pretty awful sports people so, in the inter-form challenges, we were never destined for greatness. Thoughts of netball, hockey, athletics and ugh…. cross country, do not bring back happy memories, I can assure you!
Now, our work life is often extremely competitive and, after our very successful week, today has also been full of winners but in the wider world. Neil Robertson beat Liang Wenbo 10-5 in the UK Championship Snooker final, Vicky Pattison won I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Ché Chesterman beat Lauren Murray in the X-factor semi-finals, to gain a place in the final next week. I am certain that most of the competitors did not enter these competitions just to ‘take part’.
During the course of the weekend, I have beaten some of the family history binders into submission – the dining room table has ten folders upon it and several have already been completed, ready for delivery this week. It’s really exciting to see the end of a long-term project handed over the clients, especially for Christmas. Lots more to be done still…. but it’s all looking good on the deadlines at the moment (in fact, dare I say it, we are ahead of schedule!).
So, the beginning of a new week is nigh. Another Workweek Hustle is upon me in just under six hours and much administrative work will be completed this week in an endeavour to pay out as many estates as possible prior to Christmas. ‘Tis The Season To Be Jolly and all that! Chin chin …. see you on the other side…
