Two weeks ago, we (Jennie Fairs and I) opened up our competition for a pair of RootsTech tickets. We are both ambassadors and we decided to run our competition with a bit of a difference. All ambassadors have one ticket to give away but we joined together (for the second year) to offer a pair. As we found last year, there were a large number of entries and so, once the competition closed (yesterday at 5pm GMT), we numbered all the pairs and then asked someone totally independent (and out of the FWL building) to select a number….
…. Kate Thomas-Jones and Garry Jones! Congratulations, and Merry Christmas! You are heading to Salt Lake City in February/March 2018 to attend RootsTech 2018. The theme at next year’s conference is Connect. Belong. The event starts a day earlier (on Wednesday not Thursday) and so there are four days of classes to enjoy!
Kate said in her competition entry that she’s been delving into her family’s history for over twenty five years and she has been tracing my Thomas ancestors in Glamorgan (which is not an easy task!). She went on to say that she would love to take her research to the next level and attend RootsTech 2018 to learn ways of exploring genealogy using the new technology and science which are now available. Her husband Garry has accompanied her around many a rainy Welsh churchyard, so hopefully, this trip together will be a little more glamorous! Congratulations to you both!
