Fabulous, Fantastic, Brilliant Friday….

15 August 2014

Many bloggers have days when they write about specific things relating to family, local, social history or whatever. The only day which is sacrosanct here at FWL is Sunday for #52Ancestors. But today, I thought I would focus on fabulous, fantastic and brilliant people….

There are two people, born in England, who are under thirty years of age and named FABULOUS. Stephan Fabulous Allen can be located in GRO birth indexes for 1993 in the Birmingham Registration District (RD) and Harry Fabulous Brown in 1999 in Cheltenham RD. Sorry folks, I am not joking. Take a look for yourself if you don’t believe me!

Then, there is the marriage of Alice Caroline Isabel Brilliant Hall on 5 March 1927 in Hook St Paul to Alfred Winstone…. maybe couples with more frequently occurring surnames decided that they needed to make their children’s middle names more memorable so they stand out from the crowd?

What really amazes me though is how Bryan Leonard Sage born in the September quarter of 1879 became Brilliant L. Sage in 1901 (RG13/770/ 6/4). Sometimes, he is even Bryant, on his WW1 Pension records etc. Heaven help us….:

I can only find one fantastic person in the England and Wales records, Fantastic Sanchez James or Isles born in Southwark in 1992. Have a fantastic Friday all and please do comment on any fabulous, fantastic, brilliant finds you have in your research!
